Phil is a film/video producer/editor, development executive, filmmaker, and educator. He is a partner in Arbor Avenue Films and Route 7 Films and has produced features, shorts, and experimental films. As a producer, his feature films range from realist dramas to horror and action pictures. His recent drama, GOTTA GET DOWN TO IT, made in collaboration with writer/director Jonathan Tazewell premiered at the Charlotte Black Film Festival (Best Director and "Innovation Excellence") and was an official selection at the Harlem International Film Festival, , the Middlebury New Filmmaker Festival, the San Francisco Black Film Festival, the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival and the Columbus Black International Film Festival (Best Feature Film). Phil has also partnered with director/writer/producer, Gary Jones on a number of films including the SyFy premiere feature, AXE GIANT and ESCAPE FROM DEATH BLOCK 13. He directed and produced the narrative/educational film, THE OTHER MEN IN BLACK, one of the last films starring veteran stage, screen, and television actor, Fyvush Finkel. In addition to producing features and short films, he creates short documentaries and lyrical experimental films and video art. His collaborations with Icelandic composer and musician, Jósep Gíslason, have played in festivals and venues internationally. He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2016 for his short documentary, "Dennison W. Griffith: Another World," which premiered on WOSU/PBS. Phil is a member of the Greater Columbus Film Commission board and has taught cinema, film production, and screenwriting at Kenyon College, Columbus College of Art and Design, and the Ohio State University.
