Early Life: A California native Jason grew up primarily in the Los Angeles area. He was born in Torrance, CA and lived in Sylmar until the age of 8 when his family moved to Santa Clarita. He attended Light and Life Christian School till 6th grade. Thanks to a teacher named Loretta Donnelly who saw Jason's ease at being on the stage; he was given the opportunity to perform in numerous school plays and participate in speech tournaments. However, it wasn't until he attended Village Christian School between 7th-10th grade, that Jason began to realize his talent as an actor. High School: In 9th grade he landed his first role in a school play, 'Lillies of the Field'. Initially, he was cast in a supporting role, however he was eventually cast as one of the leads, Father Gomez, after a senior had to dropout of the production. He began to realize his love for impressions and voice acting after his classmate, Kelly, had her father, legendary voice actor, Townsend Coleman, visit his drama class to talk about his career. After 10th grade, tuition costs and the commute took its toll on his family and Jason transferred to their local public high school, William S. Hart High School. During his final two years of high school, Jason's love for acting blossomed, particularly under the tutelage of his Theater Arts teacher, David Sprague. Sprague saw Jason's potential as an actor and gave him many opportunities to flourish and explore his craft. He cast him as Mr. DiPinna in 'You Can't Take It With You', Mayor Shinn in 'The Music Man', and Dr. Zubritizky in Neil Simon's 'Fools'. In January 1994 the Northridge earthquake damaged the school's auditorium. Because of the damage to the Auditorium, his final high school play was performed in a student's backyard, which lent itself perfectly to the piece, 'On Borrowed Time', in which Jason was able to try his hand at assistant directing several scenes. Jason was also very active in his church's youth group and for a time considered going into pastoral ministry. However, after some soul-searching Jason realized that his true ministry, would be to love others as he was loved by Christ; and, to pursue a career in ministry, simply because he was gifted at speaking, could be too self-serving for being a pastor. College: After attending 2 years at College of the Canyons, Jason transferred to Biola University where he majored in Communications and a few credits shy of a double major in Theatre. Under the guidance of theatre professor, Barry Cavin, he was taught the principles of Uda Hagen, Stanislavsky, Boleslavsky and the 'method'. He was able to try his hand at classical drama as well as modern comedy. Career: Upon graduating, Jason threw himself into building his career. He started working as an Atmosphere Performer for Universal Studios, a day job which he still keeps!
