In association with Warner Bros. executive Sam Warner, Nathan Levinson helped bring the first sound to motion pictures in Don Juan (1926). He also worked with Warners on The Jazz Singer (1927). Starting as a wireless telegraph operator at the age of 14, he later served as a major in WWI. He started in the film industry in 1926 and in 1941 received a special Academy Award for his outstanding service in preparing the film industry for wartime mobilization and the production of army training films.
