Ariel began his long career working in film production in Britain. He was the youngest First Assistant Director working in the UK film industry. He worked as the 1st A.D. on a number of horror cult classics for the iconic company, Hammer films and AIP, and with some of the biggest stars of the time. Soon he was working on films shooting all over the world, including the international blockbuster, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME (1977). In the 70s he was a Production Manager at the BBC, managing several big budget miniseries and prestigious dramas. He was the first production manager to be recruited by the BBC from the feature film industry. In 1983, he joined Taliafilm as Executive VP of Production and supervised all aspects of production, from development to delivery of several mid-budget features. He established productions in Canada, Portugal and the UK. In 1989 he became Executive VP of Worldwide Production at Hughes Entertainment. He shepherded a number of hits including HOME ALONE (1990) - still the highest grossing live action family comedy in history. In 2002, he became Head of Production at the Los Angeles Film School supervising student thesis film productions. He developed innovative hands on filmmaking courses that integrated all aspects of film production, reflective of industry practices. In 2008 he was promoted to Program Director of Degree Programs which allowed him to build a vibrant, collaborative faculty and design and implement innovative curricula. In 2015, he formed a corporation, Transworld Film Group, with two objectives: . To create and implement educational film making programs for emerging Chinese filmmakers in London, Los Angeles and China. Programs that would be a resource to identify Chinese writing and directing talent with the potential to create content for international distribution. . To Identify highly successful former feature film productions and television series, as well as unproduced screenplays, to develop and co-produce content combining Chinese and US investment for Chinese domestic distribution or international distribution with Chinese cross over potential.
