Frank Licato has been in the business for over 30 years as an actor, director, producer and teacher.. He has worked with such theatre luminaries as Joseph Chaiken and Peter Brook and he was named best actor in Boston for his performance as Lt. Vukov in the American premiere of Barry Collin's "Judgment." He was considered for an Obie award for his performance in "Deathwatch" by Jean Genet, which the New York Times called a 'performance on another plane.' Regionally he has worked at the American Repertory Theatre, the Delaware Theatre Company and the Boston Shakespeare Company. He has appeared on TV in "Third Watch", Sidney Lumet's "100 Centre Street" and with Frank Sinatra in the movie "First Deadly Sin." As a director he has received an Applause Award from the New Jersey Theatre Alliance and the best production and director award for "The Grapes of Wrath" at the Chatham Playhouse. His production of Neil LaBute's "The Shape of Things" was selected as a regional finalist in the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival. His production of "On the Waterfront" was made into an award winning documentary called "Waiting for Budd" named after the writer Budd Schulberg who attended the show and passed away a week later. His production of Robert Clem's "Fever" was a top 10 show at the 2001 New York International Fringe Festival. His Off-Broadway production of "Lamppost Reunion" with Vincent Pastore and members of the Sopranos ran to completely sold out houses in New York. He recently directed "The Best Man" and the New Jersey premiere of "Imagining Madoff" by Deb Margolin at the Garage Theatre. Before that he directed "A View From the Bridge,"and "Talk Radio" at The Italian American Rep., Harold Pinter's "Ashes to Ashes" and Brian Friel's "Afterplay" at the Garage Theater. He has also staged the World Premiere of Neil Labute's "I Love This Game" for Mile Square Theatre. He directed the New Jersey premiere of Mr. Labute's "Fat Pig" at 12 Miles West, where he also staged "My Italy Story." He has directed "Sloth" and "Called Out" at NJ Rep, "Tannhauser: The Play" at the Obie award winning Ice Factory Festival, Clifford Odet's "Rocket to the Moon" at Soho Rep and "Golden Boy" at the Raw Space. He staged the Off-Broadway hit revival of Rod Serling's "Requiem For A Heavyweight" and the award winning Off-Broadway revival of Sam Shepard's "Seduced" at the Kraine Theater for which he received a best director award from the Off-Broadway Review.
