Carl Horner is a VES Award nominated visual effects artist (2012), a THEA Award winning production designer - which he won as a Senior Production Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering on the Tokyo DisneySea theme park, and an art director who specializes in miniature effects. With a broad range of skill sets to "tell the story", Mr. Horner easily traverses the narrative spectrum - from design, visuals and graphics, to the spoken and written word. Wearing multiple hats in the film industry, Horner was the Art Director on Rob Zombie's film, Werewolf Women of the SS, which is part of Robert Rodriguez's and Quentin Tarrantino's Grindhouse (2007). He was the Special Effects Supervisor on Stephen King's The Dark Half (1993) and was the Miniature Effects Supervisor on Touchstone Picture's Spaced Invaders (1990). In the real world, Horner has worked on international design projects for Fortune 100 companies, agencies of the United States Government, and the nation's largest defense contractors. He was on staff at Applied Minds, Inc., which Newsweek magazine hailed as the "virtual museum of the future". He was also an instructor at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, in the Industrial Design Technology department. During his tenure at the Art Institute, he not only taught but also wrote, produced and directed instructional videos, and developed curriculum, including the "Psychology of Perception" and "Film Making I & II". Currently, Carl is a team member at 5+Design, one of Los Angeles' premiere architectural firms and a global leader in mixed-use architecture.
