Leonard Cohen says "Writing is a desperate activity" which is why Karen Leigh Hopkins became a writer, after coming out to Los Angeles from Sandusky Ohio, initially to forage for a career in film acting. When that ended on the cutting room floor (Breakfast Club, Three Amigos) she decided she'd try to write. Produced writing credits include Welcome Home, Roxy Carmicheal, Stepmom. Because I Said So, and Miss Meadows, which Hopkins also directed. Recently she wrote and produced on the Apple series Little Voice, and the feature Love is Love is Love with Eleanor Coppola, She received an Emmy nomination for Showtime's What Girls Learn, and won the Humanitas Award for ABC Family's Searching For David's Heart.
