Most recent film and television work includes a guest role on the hit British BBC series Silent Witness and the Kentucky Barmaid in Kingsmen 2: The Golden Circle. Tara Hugo's work past, current and ongoing with composer Philip Glass includes a piece called Is Infinity Odd or Even premiered in 2017 and with performances scheduled for 2020 in New York and Los Angeles. It is performed and composed by Glass, text by Arturo Bejar and sung by Tara Hugo. Past work with Philip Glass : Book of Longing (Leonard Cohen); The Whistleblower (Jerry Quickly/Philip Glass-New York and Amsterdam); vocalist for The Crucible (Broadway); The Bacchae directed by JoAnne Akalaitis (New York Shakespeare Festival); and the recording Tara Hugo Sings Philip Glass comprised of 12 songs (4 with lyrics by Hugo), Executive Producer Philip Glass for his label Orange Mountain Music, Producer Kurt Munkacsi and arranger Trevor Gureckis, available on Apple Music, Itunes and Philip Glass's own site. Live concerts of the album include: London's RADA Festival; Bristol St George's Glassfest with Michael Riesman; Glass's Days and Nights Festival at Big Sur, CA; and Philip Glass and Friends (Brooklyn and the Garrison Institute NY.) Tara took part in a celebration with and for Philip Glass at the Carolina Performing Arts Festival-- as the Mezzo-Soprano in Monsters of Grace, conducted by Michael Riesman and coupled with a performance by Laurie Anderson. Tara graduated the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art London and has worked extensively as a leading actress in the US, and in London notably as: Jenny in The Threepenny Opera (Laurence Olivier Award nomination) Donmar Warehouse; Madame Raquin in the critically acclaimed music adaptation of Therese Raquin; featured artist at the Kurt Weill Centenary (Batignano, Italy); and as herself in a solo cabaret evening directed by the late Alan Rickman. As a leading actress at regional theaters in America, she has appeared at the Guthrie Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Hartford Stage Company, and the Denver Center in classical and contemporary roles from Shakespeare, Ibsen, Chekhov, Shaw, Anouilh, and more. Her first role on Broadway was playing a witch and understudying Sigourney Weaver in MacBeth directed by Nicol Williamson. Other directors she has worked with include: Phyllida Lloyd, Imelda Staunton and Terry Johnson.
