Kim Jorgensen was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. Before directing films, he was the founder and president of Landmark Theatres, the largest chain of art-house cinemas in the U.S., which he sold in 1989. Since starting Landmark Theatres, he has also distributed films (through his Landmark Films) and produced and packaged films for other companies.
