Les Kaluza was born in Poland and emigrated to the USA in 1960; he, and his wife - Erna, b. in Vienna, Austria - worked in the animation and layout departments for Paramount Studios in New York, as well as Hanna-Barbera, Filmation and Calico in Los Angeles. Later they supervised the production of animated series and specials in Europe for Hanna-Barbera and in Asia for Calico, Saban Entertainment and Nickelodeon. Shows worked on at Paramount: Popeye The Sailor, Casper The Friendly Ghost, Beetle Bailey, Snuffy Smith and others. Shows at Hanna-Barbera: The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Johnny Quest, Space Ghost, The Impossibles and others. Feature at Hanna-Barbera: A Man Called Flintstone. Shows at Filmation: Tarzan, Superman, Star Trek, Batman, Aquaman, Lassie, Tom & Jerry, Fat Albert, Droopy, The Archies, The Lone Ranger, Sabrina And The Groovie Ghoolies, and others. Features: Return To Oz, Flash Gordon, Oliver, Treasure Island. series at Calico: Widget. Aside from his work in the animation studios, Les also produced his own animated shorts which were shown at Film Festivals all over the world. Animated shorts: "Potpourri", "The Owl And The Pussycat", "Why", Oh La La", Boogie Woogie Cat (1991), "Tiger", "Heaven Or Hell", "Gold", "How Man Was Born" and "America". He also loves to paint; to experiment with media, color and form.
