William Kelly was born in Kentucky and raised in New York. He received an MA in Film/Theater from Hunter College. After making short films and videos, he directed his first feature film, _Comeback (2000) (V)_, which received The Spirit Of Independents Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. Called "vibrant and creative" in the International Film Journal, it was praised as a "primer on directing without a budget" and singled out for the "kinetic energy of its editing." Kelly worked as a Chief Film Critic for COVER magazine for which he also wrote music reviews. His work has also appeared in Film Quarterly and New York Stories. He was named Film Editor of the new on-line e-zine, Covermag.com.
