Adrienne Mitchell is one of the principal owners and Executive Producer at Back Alley Film Productions, and an award-winning and proven dramatic director. Over her more than 20 year career, Mitchell has directed numerous dramas including episodes of the critically acclaimed CBC series Drop The Beat, and Straight Up, and Gemini-nominated erotic anthology series Bliss, all of which Mitchell co-created and executive produced. Back Alley Film Productions dramatic crime series, Durham County, aired on HBO Canada and Global Television and sold to over 110 countries internationally. In addition to co-creating and executive producing Durham County, Mitchell directed numerous episodes of the series, and won a 2010 Directors Guild of Canada award for her work. The series was also nominated for 24 Geminis and won 8, including Best Direction and Best Writing, and was billed by the New York Times as "entirely addictive." Mitchell directed the pilot for the WW2 series Bomb Girls, starring Oscar® nominated actress Meg Tilly, which was nominated for the competitive Rockie award at the Banff International Television festival. Mitchell was also nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction for her work on the pilot, and won Best Directing at the International TV Festiva Bar Montenegro for Bomb Girls' first season. The series, which aired on Global TV and ReelzChannel, won the Gracie Allen Award for Outstanding Drama series and was nominated for a further 11 Canadian Screen Awards, winning 3. Mitchell co-created and executive produced the series in addition to acting as co-show-runner and directing the first two episodes of each season. Recently, Mitchell set the visual tone and directed the pilot on Played, a CTV drama set in the world of undercover police that aired Fall 2013. She also served as co-showunner and executive producer on the series. She is attached to direct the pilot and act as co-show-runner for a noir-ish crime thriller in development with CBC. She has optioned the novel "The Evening Chorus" a WW2 drama by Helen Humphreys, for her feature film directorial debut.
