Aprile Millo came to New York a child prodigy and is a long established and Verdi specialist and bel canto champion. Millo went on to sing for over 15 seasons as the leading soprano of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera's Italian wing. Aida, Don Carlo, Il Trovatore, Un Ballo in Maschera, Luisa Miller, Andrea Chenier, Simon Boccanegra, Ernani, Otello, Turandot, I Lombardi and La Gioconda, Mefistofele, to name a few and became an in demand concert and recitalist as well. Bel Canto rigors were also a string on her musical bow, as she sang with Opera Orchestra Il Pirata, La Battaglia di Legnano, La Wally and William Tell of Rossini. A champion of the verismo/scapigliatura period of music Millo went on to sing Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur and La Wally, and Zaza. Performing often with favorite partner Luciano Pavarotti in Un Ballo in Maschera at the Met and in Paris, and with Placid Domingo in Un Ballo in Spain and Aida for TV worldwide for the Metropolitan Opera. Touring all over the world she is beloved in Barcelona, Brazil, Hong Kong, Argentina, Chicago, Torino, Rome, and Milano. Miss Millo won the First Prize Grand Premio of the coveted Voce Verdiane Concorso in Italy at 20 by unanimous decision, Montserrat Caballed-Bernard Merti Special Verdi Prize, The Maria Callas Foundation Award, The Richard Tucker Award 1985, The Licia Albanese Puccini Award in 93 and the NIAF La Voce D'Oro award Renata Tebaldi in 2007. Millo recorded with Sony Classical four titles, Aida Il Trovatore Don Carlo and Luisa Miller all with James Levine and the Metropolitan Opera Chorus and Orchestra. She returned to Italy in Genoa in 2014 for her debut as Giorgetta in Il Tabarro.
