Screenwriter, novelist, and playwright Santiago Moncada was born in 1928 in Madrid, Spain. Moncada began his writing career penning novels before branching out by also writing plays and scripts. Santiago won the Elisenda de Montcada Award for his novel "Carta a nadie" and was a finalist for the Planeta award for his novel "El stress." Moreover, as a playwright Moncada won the Calderon de la Barca Prize two consecutive years in a row in 1962 and 1963, respectively. Santiago first started writing scripts in the mid-1960's and was still penning screenplays well into the 1990's; his work in this particular field includes Westerns, crime thrillers, dramas, comedies, giallos, and horror films. In addition, Moncada was also the onetime President of the Author's Foundation and the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers. He died at age 90 on July 6, 2018.
