Actor, Director/Choreographer. Broadway performing credits include Jerome Robbin's Broadway, Lincoln Center's Twelfth Night, Man of La Mancha, Fosse, and Chronicle of a Death Foretold, among others. Other New York City credits include the Public Theater's Romeo y Julieta (Audio Play starring Lupita Nyong'o), Luis Alfaro's Oedipus "El Rey", Hamlet, Pericles, Much Ado About Nothing, Henry VIII, and Antony and Cleopatra. American television credits include For Life, Law and Order, 100 Center Street, Mad About You, As The World Turns, and PBS' Great Performances. Monge represents the Jerome Robbins Foundation and Rights Trust, recreating Robbins' original West Side Story choreography and has staged the show for Houston Grand Opera, Pittsburgh Ballet, Glimmerglass Festival, Kansas City Lyric Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Atlanta Opera, Handa Opera at Sydney Harbour, Australia, and IHI Stage Around in Tokyo, Japan. He also served as artistic collaborator for the new West Side Story (2021) film, directed by Stephen Spielberg and adapted by Tony Kushner. Monge was honored with the 2017 Performing Arts Lifetime Achievement Award conferred by the Puerto Rican Day Parade Committee and in 2019 was nominated for Australia's prestigious Helpmann Award for Best Choreography.
