Jürg Neuenschwander

Jürg Neuenschwander is a Swiss documentary film director and film producer, and a founding member of Container TV, AG for Film and Television Production, which was set up in 1978. He is also a media consultant, an expert in film studies, and a researcher in interactive human-centered design. He has directed short and feature-length documentaries, artistic projects, and interactive Xmedia productions. He has extensive experience of working internationally, and today he is based in Shanghai, Paris, and Bern. Juerg is primarily interested in innovative storytelling for creative documentaries, in expanded cinema, and in large-scale artistic works. He explores new narrative forms that challenge digitization, the Internet, and other technological developments - such as virtual and augmented reality, 360° video, web-doc and social media, to name just a few. In 2016, the Chinese Government Recruitment Program of Global Experts appointed Jürg Neuenschwander as an Overseas High-Level Talent National Chair Professor at the College of Arts and Media at Tongji University (part-time). His research area is interactive multi platform storytelling with analogue and digital media. As a director, Jürg has made a name for himself with feature-length documentaries such as Shigatse - One Injection asks for more (Shigatse), Sooner or Later, The Power of Healing (Kräuter & Kräfte), and Encounters on the Milky Way. This last film was invited to some 50 film festivals worldwide. The Chinese Recipe: Bold and Smart premiered at the 2016 Solothurner Filmtage festival in Switzerland, and opened in China at the 2016 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival. His latest film, Simply Different will arrive in theaters in 2017.
