Michael Lyle has performed as a Foley Artist for over 20 years, creating sounds in a craft that is both playful and athletic. A lifelong percussionist, Lyle's love affair with music gave him the rhythm, touch and sonic sensitivity required to recreate sounds which bring the actors' on-screen performance to life. He has worked at every major Hollywood studio and Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, plus many of the independent post production houses spotting the L.A. landscape. His career began with small independent features and he was immediately encouraged by seeing his name in the credits when the first movie he Foleyed appeared on Showtime. Favorite Foley roles have been the limp and cane of Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House, the squeaky minions in "Despicable ME" and himself in Diet Coke's "Not All Stars Appear Onscreen" Commercial, a part of the 2012 Oscar telecast. His hundreds of credits include, "The Soloist", "Bolt", everything Chicago (P.D., Med, Fire, etc), "Law and Order SVU", "Blackish", "Ozark", "This is Life" and "The Mindy Project." In 2004, he won the Emmy Award and Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award for his work on HBO's "And Starring Pancho Villa As Himself." He also won a Golden Reel for his work on "House M.D." and has received numerous additional award nominations. He lectures frequently at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and enjoys helping young filmmakers understand both sound and the overall filmmaking process. To maintain a healthy life/work balance, he plays music and travels as often as possible with his wife, vocologist and music educator Heather Lyle, with the rest of his time spent being entertained by jazz cats Vangie and Gabby (pictured).
