New Zealand born, Sarah Macdonald spent five years working for the BBC's flagship news and current affairs pro-gramme Newsnight. In 2000, she began a seven month undercover investigation into familial child abuse in Liverpool, which involved putting secret cameras on a victim to entrap her abusers. As a result of the film, three men were jailed for a total of 90 years. Sarah won a British Academy of Film and Television Award (BAFTA) as New Director and the heroine in the film won 'Woman of the Year' presented at Downing Street.in 2006, Sarah launched her production company, Uproar Productions. This dynamic film and television production company unites a group of talented documentary-makers each with huge experience at the cutting edge of news, current affairs, investigative documentary, natural history, architecture, design and travel. Sarah also launched a new arm of the company, UproarAsia which is based in Singapore and which allows the company to cover more frequently and thoroughly Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The Director of UproarAsia is Winnie Chong. Sarah now lives and works in London but still continues to work extensively in other countries.
