Stanislav Látal was a Czech film director, animator, and puppeteer. He specialized in puppet animation. Látal was born in the village of Samotisky, located about 7 kilometers (4 miles) northeast of the ecclesiastical metropolis of Olomouc in Moravia. Látal was one of the leading animators of Czechoslovakia. He directed animated feature films, such as "Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, a Sailor from York" (1982). He directed his last film in 1986, then went into retirement. He died in 1994, at the age of 75.
