Art Manke is primarily known as an award-winning stage director of classics, musicals and new work for leading regional theatres including South Coast Repertory, Mark Taper Forum, Pasadena Playhouse, Denver Center Theatre Company, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Santa Cruz Shakespeare, among others. He is the author of "Pearl's in the House," an original play with music about legendary entertainer Pearl Bailey. Manke is a co-founder of A Noise Within, L.A.'s acclaimed classical theatre company, where he served as artistic director for the first ten seasons (1991-2001). He is a frequent guest lecturer at theatre schools throughout the country and has directed for television. He holds an MFA from the American Conservatory Theatre, and is a member of the Directors Guild of America, the Dramatists Guild, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
