Dermot's career began on the Dublin stage, having graduated from The Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College, Dublin. Notable productions were Playboy of the Western world, Look Back in Anger and Farewell to Kind Relations. He worked on several TV productions: Making the Cut, (RTE), The Ambassador, (BBC), Mosley, (BBC), before being cast by John Schlesinger in A Tale of Sweeny Todd, in which he worked alongside Sir Ben Kingsley and Campbell Scott. Dermot moved on to take a starring role in the highly successful TV series DDU for RTE, where he worked with acclaimed Irish actor Sean McGinley. Other productions Dermot has worked on include Durango for CBS and the film One Man's Hero for MGM. Dermot has lived in Los Angeles, where he has spent a season on the TV series American Dreams for NBC. Dermot was born and raised in the boarder town of Dundalk, Ireland.
