Nick McKinney has worked as a Producer for The Daily Show; as writer-producer for Michael Moore's The Awful Truth series for A and E; and as the creator, Executive Producer and Director of the cult hit Insomniac with Dave Attell for Comedy Central. He was also an Executive Producer of The Al Franken Show for Sundance Channel, Morgan Spurlock's 30 Days for FX, and the creator and EP of the critically-acclaimed series on journalism, The Media Project, for IFC. Nick's film credits include the creation, writing, and co-direction of The Herd - a feature length docu-drama filmed in the Canadian arctic; EIC for 121212 - a feature-length documentary that tells the story of the concert for Hurricane Sandy; Executive Producer for Back Issues: The Hustler Magazine Story, in partnership with Epix and HBO Canada; and a Producer of The C-Word - a feature length documentary on the subject of cancer-prevention in partnership with Morgan Freeman and Revelations Entertainment. Most recently Nick, in collaboration with Blue Ant Studios and Amazon Prime Video, conceived and produced The Kids In The Hall: Comedy Punks - a 2-hour docu-series about the legendary Canadian comedy troupe, and was also a consulting producer on the 3-hour documentary special Evil By Design: Surviving Nygard. When not making documentaries Nick is an avid sailor, dog lover and gardener.
