Cabot McNenly developed an early interest in image-making when he purchased his first stills camera with paper route money at the age of nine. Since graduating from the York University Film Studies program, he has shot a wide range of material in all formats and genres, most recently as Director of Photography on CBC's acclaimed comedy series Cavendish, created by and starring Andrew Bush and Mark Little and produced by Temple Street. His work on Cameron Pictures' Little Dog - his first foray into scripted television - earned Cabot a 2019 Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) Award for best cinematography in a comedy; prior to this, he had twice been nominated by the CSC for his work on short films, including Steven McCarthy's striking O Negative, selected by Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as one of Canada's Top Ten Shorts of 2015. Earlier work includes the 2010 Toronto Film Critics Award-winning feature film You Are Here, along with a variety of credits on short films, documentaries and several feature films. Cabot has collaborated with a number of the country's best up-and-coming directors, and his work has been shown at festivals around the world, including Locarno, South By Southwest, Hot Docs, and TIFF.
