Careena Melia was born in Galway, Ireland and moved to the US when she was 5. She grew up studying dance, primarily ballet, and went on to train at Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts, Boston Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and at Centre de Danse International in France. She attended Sarah Lawrence College and Trinity College in Dublin as an Theater and English major. She moved to NY after graduation to further pursue an acting career. In NY she performed Off-Broadway with Theater for a New Audience (Macbeth), the American Jewish Theater (Anne Frank and Me) and at the Irish Repertory Theater's new plays series. Ms. Melia has worked in TV and Film alongside some high caliber actors including Sissy Spacek, Dustin Hoffman, Kier Dullea, Jake Gyllenhall, and Beau Bridges. The past few years Ms. Melia has been primarily performing on stage at the American Repertory Theater, Moscow Art Theater and with Punchdrunk - the British immersive theater company. Ms. Melia received an MFA from the American Repertory Theater/Moscow Art Theater Institute at Harvard University.
