Monica Reyes was born in Austria to an Australian father and a Spanish mother, which led to an upbringing in three different countries: Austria, Australia and Spain. She started her artistic career as a singer and theatre actress while still in high school and studied Dramatic Arts and Music at the renowned Conservatory of Vienna. She was discovered for the film by the Austrian director Andreas Prochaska, whose comedy "Die unabsichtliche Entführung der Frau Elfriede Ott" (The unintentional kidnapping of Mrs. Elfriede Ott) was a box-office hit and won the Austrian Film Acadamy Award in 2010. Since then she has been playing German and Austrian TV-series and feature films. Monica Reyes is married to Emanuel Heisenberg, a grandchild of the physicist and Nobel Price winner Werner Heisenberg. They live in Berlin.
