Victoria Riskin enjoyed a long career as a psychologist and then as an award-winning writer-producer for television. She is a former president of the Writers Guild of America, West (2001-2004). Her honors include the Writers Guild 2009 Valentine Davies Award for "bringing honor to writers everywhere," the 2012 Woman of the Year from Santa Barbara selected by Assemblyman Das Williams, and being selected Woman of the Year by Senator Hannah Beth Jackson in 2014. She served on the international board of Human Rights Watch (HRW) for twelve years, founded the Santa Barbara Committee for Human Rights Watch and headed the Hellman-Hammett Prize Committee, dedicated to aiding persecuted writers around the world. She led the Board of Trustees for Antioch University Santa Barbara for six years, and currently is on the board of NPR station KCRW.
