Verónica Riedel

VERÓNICA RIEDEL Screenwriter / Director / Producer Director, Producer, Screenwriter and Multimedia artist. Her second feature film Gallo Gallina has been awarded with Ibermedia coproduction grant and will be soon in production. Gallo Gallina has the support from the Guatemalan Government. With this project, Riedel has been recognized by Sundance Institute, Ibermedia, NALIP Latino Media Market and FICCI. The story is about a female teenager who survives in a unique way in a town where no one can surpass the challenges she is confronted with. Riedel is the creative director and producer of the docu-series Strange Medicine for FusionTV and Univision. The series is about an Alopath doctor looking for alternative medicine in Central America and in USA. Her feature narrative film and Opera Prima Capsules (2012) participated in more than 30 international film festivals and received the Gran Cine, Best Movie, Best Editing and Best Art Direction Awards. The movie is about dysfunctional families, where the main actor is a 12-year- old boy. Her Video art and Photography have been exhibited in many international Art museums and fairs. She is a mentor for other filmmakers and artists. Riedel's main theme is about justice. Riedel went to the University Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala, University of Miami, University of California, graduating with a B.F.A. on Film and Photography, Master of communications and a minor in visual arts. Veronica lives in Guatemala, writing scripts about female themes in Central America. Riedel considers an urgent matter to tell stories about women in Latin America.
