"Editing is like panning for gold: always looking for that shiny nugget hiding in tons of useless material." - Ed Salier What do George Clooney, Teri Hatcher, Jon Hamm, and Taraji P. Henson have in common? If you guessed they've all had pieces of their performance end up on Ed Salier's cutting room floor - you'd be correct. A longtime feature film and television editor, Ed fell in with the entertainment industry by chance, moving to New York City to edit cult horror classic Alice, Sweet Alice. This would soon land him a gig on his first episodic show at Lorimar Studios, working with a post production department head who was a fan of the film. After leaving the grime of New York for sunny, shiny Tinseltown, Ed worked on Silent Scream, another very successful horror film. Transitioning to videotape editing, he cut the first few seasons of the popular long-standing Entertainment Tonight, before spending the bulk of the 80s and 90s working on prime time dramas such as Max Headroom, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Quantum Leap, and the original Beverly Hills, 90210. Around the same time, his early background in documentary-style editing waved him into the cutting room of ABC's insightful news series Behind Closed Doors with Joan Lunden. As luck would have it, the reality TV boom was beginning to settle in, and Ed's experience with both documentaries and scripted dramas was the perfect background for editing reality. Since then, Ed has kept up with the changing times and worked on multiple seasons of reality series such as The Amazing Race, Big Brother, The Apprentice and The Bachelor. Ed's swift editing style has earned him the nickname Fast Eddie in post departments all over LA, and he operates under the motto "Fast is smooth - smooth is fast."
