Fred Peabody is an Emmy-winning filmmaker and journalist whose credits include 7 years as a producer-director on the acclaimed CBC investigative program "the fifth estate", and 7 years as a producer-director at ABC's "20/20" in New York. In 2019 his theatrical documentary "The Corporate Coup d'État" premiered at Toronto's Hot Docs and at Washington's FilmFest DC. His 2017 theatrical documentary "All Governments Lie" won the Directors Guild (DGC) Allan King Award for Excellence in Documentary, and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary. Fred was Supervising Producer on "Perfect Illusions", a documentary about eating disorders in young women which aired on PBS in 2003. His film on the childhood exploitation of the Dionne quintuplets was nominated for an Emmy in 1998, and he won an Emmy in 1989 for a film about wild horses rescued from starvation and abuse. He's produced two documentaries on chemical and biological weapons, and a major investigation of corporate SLAPPS - Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation. Fred learned his craft at the CBC in Toronto, where he spent four years as a news editor/reporter with CBC News, followed by seven years as a producer on "the fifth estate". His investigative work on "the fifth estate" led to staff producer jobs with ABC News 20/20 and Dateline NBC.
