Alex Pugsley is an award-winning film-maker and writer originally from Nova Scotia. His short films have played festivals around the world including the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the British International Short Film Festival, the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival, and the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. He is the co-author of the novel Kay Darling and his fiction has appeared in Brick, Descant, the Queen Street Quarterly, and other periodicals. As a screenwriter or story editor, he's worked on over 170 produced episodes of television, writing for performers such as Scott Thompson, Mark McKinney, Leslie Nielsen, Dan Aykroyd, Sean Cullen, Gavin Crawford, and Michael Cera, and for such series as The Eleventh Hour, Life With Derek, Heartland, G-Spot, and The Gavin Crawford Show. His work has been nominated for Canadian Comedy Awards, Gemini Awards, Hot Docs Awards, Director's Guild of Canada Awards, and National Magazine Awards. Recently he co-created the TV series Baxter, premiering in 2010 on The Family Channel.
