David Rabinovitch recently completed Secret Files of the Inquisition , a docudrama mini-series in which characters from history are brought to life in their own words. As Executive Producer, he assembled the international consortium which backed the C$3.5 million production. As film maker, he directed the four hour mini-series in high definition on authentic locations in Spain. Secret Files of the Inquisition marks a return to directing for David after three years as Vice-President for Production at KCTS/Seattle. In that capacity he was Executive Producer/ for The Perilous Fight: America's World War II - in Color, narrated by Martin Sheen; Perfect Illusions: Eating Disorders and the Family, narrated by Lauren Hutton; Stranded Yanks, picked by the New York Times as the first choice among all 9/11 anniversary programming, all for PBS; and The Rohna Disaster for History Channel. David currently represents Detroit Public Television as its National Production Consultant. David's work has received numerous honors including the Peabody Medal, 2 EMMY's, 4 CINE Golden Eagles, and the Gold Medal from the New York International Festivals. David was Series Producer of Crime & Punishment in America, a 3-hour miniseries for PBS; and directed an episode of the international co-production The Minidragons (PBS). He directed 26 half-hours of Hollywood Babylon, with Tony Curtis, a dramatization of Hollywood scandals based on the notorious book of the same name. David has produced multiple episodes for network series including Frontline (PBS), Investigative Reports (A&E), Ancient Mysteries (A&E). He also contributed to the network magazines Front Page (Fox) and Dateline NBC, where his special The Diary of Aaron Bacon received a Headliners Award. David's career began as a producer/director at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Toronto. He produced the EMMY-winning magazine series Here & Now for CBS in Los Angeles. He created a Documentary Unit at KRON (NBC) in San Francisco, where he produced Shanghai Shadows, the first American documentary in China, and Politics of Poison, an environmental investigation which resulted in David's presenting the film to a Congressional committee.
