Cressandra Thibodeaux was born in Manhattan and raised in Texas. She attended the High School for Performing Arts in Houston and toured with Texas Ballet. She received her M.F.A. from Columbia University's graduate film program. Since then she has directed and produced 3 award-winning commercials, two short films and several documentaries. She has written numerous scripts mostly set in the South. Her screenplay, "Bill Pickett - Bulldogger" won fourth place at the Slamdance Screenwriting Competition and made the semifinalists in the Nicoll Fellowships. She received a fellowship at the MacDowell Colony and has also received a Rockefeller Travel grant.
