Cressandra Thibodeaux is a director, editor, writer, actor and producer. She attended University of Texas at Austin undergrad and received her M.F.A. from Columbia University's graduate film program. Her graduate thesis was a feature-length film titled, "Spamarama, The Movie" which featured; Molly Ivins, Kinky Friedman, Ray Benson, Turk Pipkin and Marco Perella. At Columbia University her advisors were Ralph Rosenblum (Woody Allen's editor) and Sam Pollard (Spike Lee's editor). Ms. Thibodeaux's first job upon graduation was working for Sam Pollard as his second assistant editor. At this same time she was also signed by a production company in Dallas, TX to direct commercials. Since then she has directed, edited and produced 3 award-winning commercials (all won Austin Addy awards), five short films and several documentaries. She has written 14 completed screenplays mostly about women and people of color. She developed a comedy for Comedy Central called "On The Couch." Her screenplay, "Bill Pickett - Bulldogger" won fourth place at the Slamdance Screenwriting Competition and her screenplay "American Eagle" was a semifinalists in both the Chesterfield and the Academy Nicholl Fellowships. She has received several fellowships at the MacDowell Colony and numerous grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, Houston Arts Alliance, Humanities Texas, Southwest Alternative Media Project and the Texas Commission on the Arts. In 2015, Cressandra Thibodeaux founded Bechdel Films, which is a female film production company and in 2018, Ms. Thibodeaux founded the Bechdel Film Festival.
