Tirgu Mures (Romanian); Marosvásárhely (Hungarian) is the seat of Mures County in the north-central part of Romania. As of 2011 the city had a population of 127,849 inhabitants, being the 16th largest city in Romania. At the time he was born the county (so the city itself as well) was belonging to Hungary. After WWII the city got into Romanian supervision.
