Juan Pablo Villaseñor was born on Morelia, Michoacán, México in 1956. He studied at the 'Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC)', where he earned his degree, with the short film Y yo que la quiero tanto (1987). Por si no te vuelvo a ver (1997), was his film debut; won thirty awards, including the "Ariel de Oro" and the FIPRESCI award in the "Muestra de Cine Mexicano de Guadalajara", among others. Los niños de Morelia (2004) was his first documentary.
