John Walsh is double BAFTA nominated writer & director whose films focuses on social justice giving a voice to otherwise unheard contributors. After graduating from the London Film School, John founded his own film production company, Walsh Bros Ltd, which is now one of the UK's top 100 production companies. His controversial feature film about the 2010 General Election, ToryBoy The Movie, received a cinema release in 2011 and again in 2015 and was nominated by the Grierson Trust for "Best Documentary on a Contemporary Theme." As a lifetime Labour voter, the film follows John's journey to become a Conservative Candidate during the 2010 General Election. The film uncovered major political corruption in the North East and exploded onto the nation's front pages and media when he exposed "Britain's Laziest MP". John has a deep understanding of politics, the current political system and its flaws facing candidates. His first feature film Monarch has recently been restored and remastered after John tracked down the original 35mm camera negative in a film vault. This was the subject of a major BBC News story about lost films. "A Fascinating haunting little gem, with richly nuances performance from McKenna" BBC Radio Times (Four Stars) **** "John Walsh's period indie plays like a Tudor Whodunit ghost story. Intriguing and original" EMPIRE (Four Stars) **** As a Trustee of the Ray Harryhausen Foundation John co-presents a monthly half hour podcast for the Foundation on iTunes.
