Wendy Seyb is an award-winning filmmaker, director, choreographer, writer and producer. Her work spans film, TV, Broadway/Off-Broadway, digital, live events, and dance. Career highlights include choreographing The Pee-wee Herman Show for Broadway and HBO, choreographing Sting, Oscar Isaac, Renée Fleming, and James Taylor at Carnegie Hall, premiering her award-winning short comedy How You Look At It, starring Emmy-winner Peter Scolari, at top film festivals all over the world, working with Christopher Lloyd in his return to theater, and directing/choreographing an original musical comedy series which both Indiewire and Buzzfeed named a 'must see'. Her talents have been sought out by top names in the industry including Amazon Studios, NBC Universal Television, Disney Theatricals, The Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Richard Frankel Productions. Many of her outstanding projects as a choreographer have earned her significant praise, awards, and nominations; including the Off-Broadway shows Click, Clack, Moo (Lucille Lortel Award nomination), and The Toxic Avenger Musical (Lucille Lortel Award, Joe A. Callaway Award, and Toronto's DORA Award nominations). Her dance comedy Supernovas won her a Golden Nose Award, and her unique vision as a director earned the cirque-style show Onirique a Big E Award. The Great Conjurer gave her a nomination for a New York City Innovative Theatre award. Her most recent musical, Murder For Two, had a successful Off-Broadway run and 2 national tours. She has developed, directed, and choreographed sketch comedies which have premiered at top NYC venues including Ars Nova, Joe's Pub, and The PIT. She has also choreographed at top regional theaters including The Geffen Playhouse, Philadelphia Theatre Company, The Old Globe, Paper Mill Playhouse, Bay Street Theater, Geva Theater, and The Minnesota Children's Theatre. She has conceived and created over 20 original Dance Comedy narratives that have been featured in musicals, videos, and short films; along with being presented live at esteemed New York City venues such as Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York Live Arts, Joyce SoHo, HERE, The Flea, and LaMama. She has had the privilege of directing and choreographing original work for The Sacramento Ballet, Dancers Responding to AIDS, and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. She both co-created and co-produced Freshly Tossed, an evening of innovative dance comedy, that was presented at The New York Musical Theatre Festival 2 years in a row. Wendy is an alumna of the Lincoln Center Director's Lab 2009, and the Broadway industry showcase Dancebreak 2008. She has also appeared as a guest panelist for The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, The League of Professional Theater Women, Behind the Scenes: Women in Theatre at The Apollo, and Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation seminars. She received a degree in archaeology from Boston University, and is a proud member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.
