Abdul Hamid Shaikh started his career in 1985 as a light man (Spark) and grip assistant. He then grew his way up to become one of the leading gaffers in India in the year 1998. His first film as a Gaffer was the Hollywood film 'Train to Pakistan' directed Pamela Rooks, he then proceeded to become the favourite gaffer for all International and Indian DOPs. Abdul Hamid shaikh now heads the lighting department at MAD Studios, Mumbai, India and continues to be one of the leading gaffers in India.
