Smith Timsawat is a film director and film editor in Bangkok, Thailand. Smith's film career began in 1992 as a production assistant for Hollywood films shoot on location "Heaven and Earth" and quickly moved up in position as Thai production coordinator in "Cutthroat Island", "Operation Dumbo Drop", "Young Indiana Jones" and "The Phantom". Smith later moved back to Los Angeles in 1995 to pursue his career in film making. While in Hollywood he had worked in the post production department as a post production assistant in "Turbulence", "Dance with me", "Music from another room", and "The Green Mile". He had studied Avid Media Composer and the art of the storytelling with some of the industry's most experienced editors. In 2002, Smith directed and edited his first feature film "Province77" which chronicled the travails of a Thai family adjusting to their new life in Los Angeles. The film represented a milestone in Thai cinema, being one of the first Thai films shot on location in the U.S. , and with both Thai and English dialogue. Since the release of Province 77, Smith had been involved in many successes of the Thai films as director and editor. Smith's goal is to widen the arena of Thai films to the international audiences.
