Katie was born in January 1956 and is the daughter of legendary stage, screen, and TV actress Nancy Marchand who won an Emmy as Mrs. Pynchon in "Lou Grant" and was nominated for another Emmy as Livia in "The Sopranos." In addition to the small role Katie had in an episode of "The Sopranos" in 2001, she also appeared in guest roles on "Law & Order" in the 1998 and 2004 seasons. She has done lots of stage work and was Frances McDormand's understudy on Broadway in the 80's Circle in the Square revival of Clifford Odets' "Awake and Sing!," which starred her father. Katie's father was the late, great stage actor Paul Sparer. She has been an acting and voice teacher and is married to an artist and teacher. Katie continues to act off-Broadway and throughout Connecticut, most notably at Stamford Theatre Works. She has 3 children and lives in Stratford, CT.
