Alejandro Springall studied filmmaking at the London Film School (1987-1991). He returned to Mexico City in 1991, and started working with Mexican producer Bertha Navarro. In 1997 he founded Springall Pictures, his production company. Since 1996 he has been working closely with John Sayes, Maggie Renzi and Lemore Syvan. Results of this collaboration have been several films: Sayles, Renzi and Syvan are executive producers of "Santitos" and "My Mexican Shivah", both directed by Springall; Springall and Syvan produced "Casa de los Babys", directed by Sayles; Springall produced "Go For Sisters", directed by Sayles. In 2010, Springall co-wrote and directed "No Eres Tú, Soy Yo", starring Eugenio Derbez, Alejandra Barros and Martina García, produced by Matthias Ehrenberg. Released by Warner Bros. it became the 4th highest grossing Mexican film. In 2011, Springall directed the TV program "Reflexiones sobre la Batalla de Puebla", written and narrated by Carlos Fuentes. Aside from producing and directing films, Springall produced and directed the grand concert of Chavela Vargas at Carnegie Hall, NY, on September 15, 2003, introduced by Salma Hayek and Elliot Goldenthal; and the grand concert of Vargas at Luna Park Stadium, Buenos Aires in April 2004. He also co-wrote and directed "Lo que el rancho se llevó", starring Raquel Pankowsky.
