Son of a former ballet dancer mother and a math teacher father, Josiah Steiner spent his early years growing up in Arizona, where he studied violin and ballet. The family moved to New York in 1980 in order for Josiah to pursue his violin studies at the Manhattan School of Music. Later he also studied in the Moscow (1988-91) and Cincinnati (1991-94) conservatories. Josiah gave his Carnegie Recital Hall (now Weill Hall) NY debut on February 11, 1984. A gifted violinist, he resides in his hometown of Scottsdale, Arizona.
