He graduated from The Music Academy of the West, as an operatic baritone and became a member of the Los Angeles Civic Light Opera. After an appearance in the chorus in the film "You're Never Too Young" he continued as a regular background singer in many Warner Brothers and Paramount musicals during the mid 1950s and early 1960s. such as "Oklahoma!", "Damn Yankees", "Guys and Dolls", "Bells are Ringing", and "Gigi". He also made on screen appearances in 1955, "Love Me or Leave Me", 1957, "The Pajama Game" and 1961, "The Music Man."
