Hany Tamba was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1961. He studied graphic design in the UK and worked as a freelance illustrator in London for many years before moving on to directing. His short film After Shave (2004) won the French "Cesar" for Best Short Feature in 2006 as well as numerous awards at festivals around the world. His first full length feature "Une Chanson dans la tête" (aka: Melodrama Habibi) starring Patrick Chesnais was released in 2008 and won two awards at the Brussels International Film Festival in 2009.
