The Pope Sisters, Una, Odele and Inez were like the Black Boswell Sisters - 3 beautiful, glamorous, talented vocalists. They sang in the same fashion of the Boswell Sisters but with their own hot, mellow, gospel, jazzy Harlem style. In the mid 1930s they performed in elite nightclubs in the U.S., Canada, New England, and along the Atlantic sea coast. The Pope Sisters were among the first Black girl/sister group and the first considered glamorous. They were featured in pioneer Black film-maker Oscar Micheaux films "Temptation," "Underworld," and a short Here's the Gang (1935).
