Started his career in film by upstarting Design Concepts, an incubator company with a mandate to develop content that could logically integrate brands. Funded by Deutsche Bank Private Equity Investors. One of the original projects developed by Design Concepts, 'RLR' attracted the highest level of brand participation (hard equity and 'in kind,' back-end) Promotion and Advertising for any UK independent film to date. The project turned the establishment on its head when Westerman teamed with Michael Madsen, bringing Madsen onto the project as a producer, and the two negotiated directly with Mickey Rourke, Harvey Keitel, Dennis Hopper, Gavin Rossdale and Cillian Murphy. Westerman successfully optioned, developed and sold UK bestseller, 'I, Lucifer and, with business partner, Richard Hewitt, sold the property to Films De La Suane in 2006 with Ewan McGregor and Daniel Craig on board. A 'Development Producer' Westerman either originates content (e.g.'Pretty, Baby, Machine') or options underlying rights of New York Times Bestsellers or current events media reportage. A US citizen who now resides dually in Palm Springs CA, and Cyprus, Westerman has lived in the UK and EU for the past five years and has forged deep relationships with worldwide distributors. He holds an excellent understanding of worldwide film production, and the sector's varied viable financial structures and is experienced in capitalizing on them. Presently Westerman and Hewitt have developed a 6 picture slate comprised of NYT Bestsellers, Pulitzer author's content as well as top graphic novel properties and have negotiated an exclusive deal with a territory and its government regarding a production facility and The Company's content. Deutsche Bank and consultants formerly of UBS and Goldman Sachs are leading the raise for this initiative (see recent press). Westerman has been interviewed on Bloomberg TV, BBC Liquid TV (Pundit Speaker: Brand Affinity In Film), LA's KROQ The Mirror, The Sun, Film Four, Empire, Screen daily, Screen Int'l, The Sunday Times, The Independent on Sunday as well as Hollywood Reporter, Daily Variety, and The International Herald Tribune to name a few.
