Adam Hart-Davis was educated at the prestigious Eton College. At school he excelled in physics, chemistry and mathematics. He achieved a first class Masters degree in chemistry at Oxford University and then took a PhD in organometallic chemistry at York University. He spent five years publishing science books for the Oxford University Press. He also became involved in broadcasting, bringing his scientific expertise to programmes for Yorkshire Television and the BBC. He continues to write articles and present radio and television programmes about science. Hart-Davis enjoys cycling and photography. He is married to psychologist Sue Blackmore.
