Brenda Garcia is a versatile actress, writer and Navy veteran that was stationed at the White House and flew numerous times aboard Air Force One. She has written a book, © Brown Girl, White House, a non-fiction memoir about a conservative Latina who becomes a Navy videographer and follows two Presidents at the White House and around the world. Unexpected events challenge her cultural and political norms. She has appeared in television shows, such as The Mayor (ABC), VIDA (Starz), The Young and the Restless (CBS), The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), Days of Our Lives (NBC), Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC), as well as independent films and print. Brenda was also a co-host with Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz to talk about her military career and introduce her favorite movie on Veterans Day 2018. She shared the staged with Judd Nelson (The Breakfast Club) and Dendrie Taylor (The Fighter) for a staged reading of Jack Kennedy's feature script. Brenda has performed on stage in musicals such as In The Heights, Bye-Bye Birdie, Fiddler on the Roof, Kiss Me, Kate, and Dreamland (which was written and directed by multi-Emmy winners). Brenda is a member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA and DGA. Brenda caught "the bug" at five years old when she saw her first musical . She immediately enrolled in tap/ballet and acting classes and has since then performed in variety shows featuring the songs from the 1920's - 1940's and musicals on stages from California to Washington, DC. She grew up in Los Angeles and graduated with a BS degree in Business/Marketing from California State University, Los Angeles. With a desire to see the world and meet new people, she joined the US Navy. Instead of a gun, the Navy gave her still/video cameras to shoot. She was stationed in Washington, DC and held various video production positions similar to being on a "Hollywood" set. Never losing site of "the bug", she continued to perform on lunch/dinner cruises performing Broadway review shows. The highlight of her Navy career came with an assignment to the White House under TWO presidents, President George H. W. Bush and President Clinton. She recorded video to document both domestic and international public and private events for the national archives and presidential libraries. This included events at the White House, the US Capitol, across the country and around the globe. Brenda traveled with the president numerous times aboard Air Force One to the majority of our United States, covering the 1992 presidential campaign and President Clinton's meeting with Pope John Paul II. International highlights include Italy, Japan, Russia, Germany and Korea to name a few. Throughout the years, Brenda continued to perform. She sang in contemporary worship team bands and as a guest soloist with the Navy Band during Fleet Week in New York City. She also moved up to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Navy. She is a member of Veterans in Media and Entertainment and American Legion Post 43 (the "Hollywood" Post). Even after amazing experiences well beyond her imagination, she is still bitten by "the bug" and is now a full-time actress with rich life experiences that she will bring to audiences as they share their journey through stage, TV and film. Thank you for visiting.
