The '60s band Electric Flag was formed by musician Mike Bloomfieldm who wanted to blend together blues, jazz and rock. He started the band in 1967 in San Francisco after he left the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Electric Flag made its debut at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. They released their critically acclaimed first album, "A Long Time Comin'", in 1968. Their next album, "Electric Flag", was released the next year, but critics noted that the band seemed to have lost focus and the album sold poorly. Internal dissension and conflicting egos roiled the group, and it soon disbanded. In 1974 the band was re-formed and cut a third album, "The Band Kept Playing", but it sold poorly, too, and the new Electric Flag also disbanded.
