Rick Porrello

A suburban Cleveland, Ohio police chief, Rick Porrello is also an author of three books about organized crime: The Rise and Fall of the Cleveland Mafia (Barricade Books, 1995), To Kill the Irishman - The War that Crippled the Mafia (Next Hat Press, 1998) and Superthief - A Master Burglar, the Mafia and the Biggest Bank Heist in U.S. Next Hat Press, 2006). He began writing his first book during research into the murders of his grandfather and three uncles who were mob leaders killed in Prohibition-era, bootleg violence. Also an accomplished jazz drummer, Rick Porrello spent two-and-a-half years traveling worldwide with the late Sammy Davis Jr.
